Dupree School District 64-2

Where pride and concern = success

District News

  • Hello, this is Gail Swenson, with this COVID 19 update.

As of today, we have 5 positive staff members and 7 staff members monitoring symptoms.  We are slowly making progress.

We are also getting clearance from medical professionals for any 5th/6th BBB players, any JH GBB players and our Varsity GBB players as they begin practices.  Strict adherence to SDHSAA rules and best practices in general for the virus will keep our players safe and healthy so they can be involved in these activities.  Not adhering to the rules will end playing time and seasons quickly.  So let’s be great teammates, Tiger Nation!

Dupree School will stay in virtual learning next Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 23-24.  We are off the rest of next week for Thanksgiving vacation.

We will return to in-person instruction for all students on Monday, Nov. 30.  We understand that those students impacted by the lockdown will not be in school and will continue to work online until they can come back to school.

If your family has a member with the virus, or anyone who is a close contact, please remember to keep students home.  We need to be very disciplined and follow our directives to keep our communities safe.  Remember, if a student is home for COVID-related reasons, his or her attendance is exempt – not counted against them.  Parents, please call the school if a student in your family is home.

This virus is hitting hard.  We need to hit hard back.  We need to limit social gatherings, wash our hands frequently, wear face coverings, use hand sanitizer and stay home if we’re sick.  We need to be smart and be honest if we get a call from our medical professionals.  Covering up an illness is not going to stop the spread of this virus.  We want to start school after Thanksgiving and be able to go solid to Christmas vacation and end our 1st semester strong with kids in school.  We can only do that if we take care of each other.

This Thanksgiving season, I’m thankful for our staff and all of you who are so concerned and invested in our children’s educations.  Together, we make a difference in each of their lives.

Stay safe and healthy, Everyone. Good bye.
